GARDEN GROVE The city is launching a campaign to inform residents and visitors about the City Council's recent decision to impose a $1,000 fine for setting off illegal fireworks during the July 4 holiday.
The "No illegal fireworks, $1,000 fine" message will appear on street banners, bus shelters and direct mail as well as the city's Web site, officials said. The City Council approved the increased penalty in March.
Garden Grove is only one of five Orange County cities to allow state-designated legal fireworks during the holiday.
