Lisbon's skyline was lit up by a massive display of fireworks from the capital's Tagus River Bridge. A spectacle that can hardly have failed to attract the attention of several hundred thousand, last Sunday.
Europe's biggest bridge, the April 25 bridge over Lisbon's river Tagus erupted in a waterfall of light and color.
The show, which started the countdown to the "Rock in Rio" Festival in Lisbon next year, was a record for Portugal, with 4,000 pyrotechnics spread over the distance of two kilometers.
The preparations on the lower span of the bridge took six days to complete. The fireworks on the structure of the bridge were supplemented by enormous rockets shot from two barges moored on the river itself.
