The Valencian Community ends restrictions in bars and will only require the covid passport in residences

"Today a new stage begins", this is how Ximo Puig began the press conference after the interdepartmental conference to publicize the new measures against the coronavirus. After 700 days of fighting the virus, Puig believes that the improvement in the indicators of the pandemic allows a stage of recovery and normality to begin . For this reason, from this midnight the Generalitat Valenciana will put an end to the entire battery of measures in force until this Monday in the Valencian Community . The Generalitat Valenciana has decided that from tonight it will no longer be mandatory to present the covid passport in any of the places where it was mandatory, except in residences and social centers where especially sensitive older people live.

In addition, the Generalitat Valenciana has also decided to end the maximum of 10 people per table in bars and restaurants and the minimum space between tables indoors and outdoors. The only measure that will remain in force and that affects the restoration will be the prohibition of smoking on terraces.

These measures, according to Puig, are taken after verifying how the pandemic figures confirm the decline of the sixth wave. "Now we have new elements," says Puig. With these words, Puig refers to how half the cases have been registered this weekend than last week. During the two weeks the level of reproduction has been reduced, because the Generalitat assumes that there has been an acceleration in the decline of the sixth wave and that it was time to begin a de-escalation and a return to normality.

As for the measures that will govern from tonight in the Valencian Community, from the Generalitat Valenciana they maintain the importance of betting on vaccination and on common sense and the co-responsibility of citizens. In this sense, and with the proximity of Fallas and the Magdalena festivities, Puig advocates continuing to act prudently and rejects the removal of masks and interiors in the short term . "The pandemic is still among us," he argues regarding a hypothetical removal of the mask indoors while insisting that during the next holidays the mask will continue to be mandatory outdoors in acts that involve a crowd, such as 'mascletades ' and the offering to the virgin in the case of the public.

The objective was to create it to honor the falleros "at a very unfavorable moment for the entire group"

The new limited edition “Espanta Covid” firecracker. | LIFT-EMV

A firecracker that scares away the Covid with its explosion. It's possible? Piro Foc i Fantasia , the Valencian pyrotechnics company, believes so and last September they put all their efforts into making it so, creating a new artifact with the name " Espanta Covid ". At the time, the firecracker was created, as explained by Jorge Muñoz, manager of the brand, with the aim of creating it to honor the falleros in a symbolic way "at a very unfavorable moment for the entire group", during the last atypical Fallas .

Finally, it must be taken into account that the "Espanta Covid" is category F3, of medium danger and for people over 18 years of age.

The police ask that eating and drinking be avoided in the mascletaes so as not to remove the mask

It will monitor street vending and talk to hoteliers to limit the selling of drinks in the hours before the mascleta

The Councilor for Citizen Protection of the Valencia City Council, Aarón Cano , has asked the thousands of attendees who are expected to attend the " mascletaes" to avoid eating and drinking during them so as not to have to remove the mask , which is the only health measure out of the ordinary. Cano has repeated that there will be no police persecution in this regard, but has warned that one must be responsible and behalve like the majority of the people. They, for their part, will intensify controls against the illegal sale of beverage cans and will even talk to hoteliers to limit the sale of this type of packaging in the hours before the shooting.

Aarón Cano made these observations in the presentation of the Local Police and Fire Department device for these Fallas, which, as he recalled, represent a challenge for the city as it is the first major festival to be held in Europe after the pandemic.

'During the meeting, it was explained that, as agreed in the Cordà Sectorial Council, the 60 shooters from Paterna who will participate in the exhibition have been chosen by lottery, they have previous experience of having participated in 5 Cordàs and all have the CRE certificate that accredits them as experts in the use and handling of fireworks'.

Overigens gaat er zaterdagavond 342 kilo poeder doorheen. Zie:

How many years has it been since there was no official "cordà" in Fallas?

The Plaza del Ayuntamiento has contemplated an unusual scene within the particular fallera architecture: a cage within another cage. Inside the enclosure for the "mascletaes" another mechanotube cage has been installed for the "cordà" that next Saturday, at half past nine at night, will mark the start of the already uninterrupted series of Fallas acts.

The structure, which has to be dismantled for the "mascletà" on Sunday, has been installed inside the enclosed area and will also be covered by a roof to prevent any of the pyrotechnic elements from reaching the public area. It is a smaller rocket-drome than usual in Paterna , but enough to make a "tasting" of the typical pyrotechnic art of the paternera town, with whose city council an agreement has been signed to carry out the demonstration.

You have to go back 26 years, to the Fallas of 1996, to attend the previous occasion in which a demonstration of “cordà” from Paterna entered the official program of festivities. In this case, it was shot in a cage set up for that purpose in the Turia Gardens, near the Gulliver - at that time the garden was not yet completed - and it took place on the night of March 15 to 16, at the half past one in the morning. Thousands of people came to witness it. It lasted about twenty minutes and the chronicles speak of a show that was very popular and that brought together many people on the parapet of the riverbed. A shot in which, as now, the Paterna shooters participated together with the Caballer Pyrotechnics.

Now, being on a Saturday and at a good time, a large attendance is expected in the square. Quite a challenge considering that it will be the first time that the crowds return to the main square to witness a pyrotechnic show, and for which the use of a mask will be mandatory.

What is the origin of the "tro de bac" of the "despertà" fallera?

"The leftover mixtures of the tests, of little power, the master stonemason (in het Nederlands: steenhouwer) kept them wrapped in paper, corn husks or cloth and fine rope or thread, so that the smallest of the family could enjoy the thunder that, thrown against the ground , they produced sound and flash, and so they became familiar with the sounds they would have to hear and distinguish when, as they grew older, they continued with the family work of master stonemasons". The "tro de bac" is a fuseless, impact firework, and the most characteristic element of the Fallas. That which, for more than a century, has been used to announce to the neighborhood that the festive day begins.

The "tro de bac" has gone through all sorts of vicissitudes and, in fact, has been on the verge of disappearing, besieged by European regulations, the unstoppable transfer of the fallera activity to the night and the competition of the fuse thunder. However, in recent years there has been a growing interest on the part of the failure commissions, especially through the groups, to use it.

On the page trodebac.es generated by the Pirotecnia del Mediterráneo to focus the requests for this artifice, an essay by mestre coeter So Juan García Estellés is collected, in which he attributes the origin of this type of firecracker to the stonemasons and to the gunpowder used in this type of work "which is the mother of Valencian gunpowder". According to reference, the stonemasons had rudimentary laboratories to make gunpowder products to embed them in the protrusions -wisely detected- and to be able to break the large blocks of stone. "by means of a fuse or by means of a blow". In the latter "to the mixture obtained from the mortar ("the gunpowder"), small pieces of silesc stone were added, it was wrapped with corn husks, cloth or paper, shaping it and tying a small package, compact enough to get these pebbles as close to each other as possible. Next, this package was placed on a more or less large and flat piece of stone, and on it, it was hit with a mallet or bar to see that the mixture had the previous characteristics and that its ignition was optimal and desired. ".

And it is the leftovers from these jobs that would be used recreationally over time.

In the "Historia de las Fallas" published by Levante-EMV thirty years ago, Juan García Estellés recovers the appearance of the tro de bac: "A very important event within Valencian popular culture that took place in the years 1902 and 1903, in those that for the first time appeared “some boxes with small explosives called firecrackers or BAC TRONS that were, are and will be the delight of young people and children, since since then it has been the quintessential firecracker of the targets ("despertaes ") that are part of the Fallas Festival as the pyrotechnic material used, much safer in moments of rejoicing by all the people who make up the Fallas world".

"However, in different towns and, specifically in the area of the Valencian horta, but also in Alicante with its bonfires and in the different festivities for the celebration of the Patron Saints of the towns, they were used much earlier than in Valencia city together with with mecha trons, parelleta trons, flyers and drunken rockets".

How to get the "macrodespertà" box as a souvenir

The vintage that Pyrotechnics of the Mediterranean has become a collector's item

The box that will be used this Sunday for the "macrodespertà" has attracted so much attention that Pirotecnia del Mediterraneo has turned it into a collector's item. So much so, that it has even launched a bold initiative: make it a gift item by launching a limited collector's edition .

Apart from the "real" boxes that will be fired, the company has released a limited edition, which includes the 50 "trons de bac" but, in this case, simulated, to keep up with the passage of time.

The box is illustrated with an old picture of a "despertà", vindicating the origin of this type of firecracker, so characteristic of the Fallas -in fact, it is the only one that can be considered "genuine" of the festival- and they have thought that it is a good idea to convert it into an indelible memory of the failures of the return.

The pyrotechnics, which supplies "tro de bac" for the first time to the "macrodespertà" has enabled a wasap (681950493) to make reservations (there are only 300 units) and the boxes will be sent from March 21. The price of it is 12 euros, including "no firecrackers".

The major fallera of Valencia, Carmen Martín Carbonell, was the first to discover the box model, which also has "vintage" typography and whose symbolism is topped off with a sealing tape that reads "Here the Falles begin 2022" in allusion to the fact that, at the moment of breaking it, that very particular start of the 2022 academic year takes place.

There are not a few lucky ones with a place in the "macrodespertà" who are willing to keep at least one of the boxes as a souvenir, once the explosives have been fired. However, Pirotécnia del Mediterráneo has launched the initiative thinking of the many who have been captivated by such a particular design.
