The mayor of Valencia, María José Catalá, received this Friday the committee that supported Spain's candidacy to host the International Pyrotechnics Symposium in 2026, which will be held in Valencia. This committee is made up of members of the Spanish Pyrotechnics Association (Aepiro), such as Nicolás Magán (manager); José Luis Giménez (president), from Pirotecnia Vulcano; José Pallarés Platón and Samuel Albiñana (Pirotecnia Platón); José María París (Nitroparís); and Vicente Carsí and Daniel Tamarit (Pirotecnia Martí).
All of them have been instrumental in Valencia hosting, from October 5 to 9, 2026, the most important global event organized by the fireworks industry. The mayor congratulated them on their efforts and highlighted the municipal government's commitment to the sector. "We have developed a joint effort during this term to improve and increase funding and fireworks events in the city by 33%. We are trying to ensure that a traditional and fundamental sector of the Fallas, such as fireworks, is strengthened by its main institution, the City Council, so that we can feel proud and spread the word that we are the city of gunpowder." It's worth noting that the combined art of fire and gunpowder takes on special importance during the Focs de la Fira, with the launch of a fireworks display every Saturday in July. Valencia was chosen at the suggestion of the Spanish Pyrotechnics Association (Aepiro) during the 19th International Symposium on Fireworks Society Ltd (ISFS) in the Chinese city of Liling, in the Huanan region. The International Symposium on Fireworks Society Ltd (ISFS), based in Wisconsin (USA), organizes and decides on the hosting of this event. The ISFS expert evaluation committee visited Valencia at the end of February to learn about our city, which hosted the 7th International Symposium on Fireworks in October 2003.
The Spanish Pyrotechnics Association was re-established in early 2020 thanks to the union of companies and professionals that bring together manufacturing and display workshops, importers, retail stores, and suppliers linked to the sector. Its main objective is to create a united front to reverse the current crisis facing the sector and face the future in a viable and sustainable manner, while highlighting the work of pyrotechnics companies.
Representing Aepiro, José Luis Giménez stated that "we are going to try to prepare a very dynamic and exciting week focused on pyrotechnics in the city of Valencia. This symposium is an institutional event for the sector where new ideas and trends are proposed, and knowledge is shared for the best pyrotechnic production worldwide."
