The Mayor of Valencia Helps Fine 5 Dutch People for Using Prohibited Fireworks
Eight people were identified last night, five of whom were fined for setting off prohibited and illegal fireworks near the Palau de la Música. These were foreign visitors, incorrectly called tourists, from the Netherlands who traveled to Valencia to engage in the so-called tourism of setting off illegal and prohibited fireworks.
This action was carried out at 10:30 p.m. by USAP officers. It was the Mayor of Valencia, Maria José Catalá, who helped secure the fines for these individuals. She noticed what was happening while walking in the area and called Police Councilor Jesús Carbonell to take action. Councilor Jesús Carbonell notified the police, and USAP officers responded to the scene to identify and fine these individuals. When the police operation ended, the neighbors of the adjacent property burst into applause, alerted by the noise generated by the explosions.
In addition, the Valencia Local Police also made a significant seizure of prohibited F4 explosive material on Wednesday night. The two foreigners were found in the Turia River near the Palau de la Musica, using this illegal pyrotechnic device. The two individuals were identified.
Those identified and reported are Dutch nationals.
Official sources have reported that the Valencia Local Police identified eight people on the night of Friday to Saturday, five of whom were reported, and seized them for the firing and possession of prohibited pyrotechnic material for personal use. This operation took place in the vicinity of the Cánovas and Palau de la Música areas, and F4 pyrotechnic material was seized from all those identified and reported, "most of whom were Dutch nationals."
On this occasion, the Local Police were notified by the Mayor of Valencia, María José Catalá, who witnessed the firing of this prohibited material. The USAP was responsible for initially identifying and seizing five people and later three more in the vicinity.
Those identified were recklessly firing prohibited material, posing a risk to citizens and even to homes. While the operation was taking place, residents of the buildings applauded the police intervention.
For these incidents, the Local Police, in coordination with the National Police, have established a specific security operation to prevent the firing of prohibited fireworks. Last Wednesday night, they identified and seized two foreigners in the riverbed (Alameda area) for setting off fireworks.
Security Councilor Jesús Carbonell stated that "we will not tolerate the firing of this prohibited material. The protection of our neighbors is our priority, and we will remain vigilant," adding, "We will not tolerate the firing of prohibited materials or putting our neighbors at risk."
