Protesten tijdens de mascleta van vandaag, hebben de boosheid van de JCF en de rest van de fallasgemeenschap afgeroepen.
Voor en na de mascleta werden er protesten gehouden, door diverse groepen, tegen de crisis en de financiele situatie waarin de deelstaat valencia zich op dit moment bevind.
Na de mascleta moesten de fallera's en hun cortes de honor naar de auto's begeleid worden door de politie, uit angst voor de protesterende groepen.
Inmiddels spreken de diverse groepen die fallas vertegenwoordigen schande over deze protesten.

Vanmiddag al het bericht op een andere site gelezen en zijn wel hele pittige protesten geweest. Zeker heel triest dat je als jonge (rond de 10 jaar) Fallera Mayor Infantil gewoonweg belaagd wordt terwijl je gewoon weg geen idee hebt waar het helemaal over gaat en dat terwijl het al helemaal iets waar je niks mee te maken hebt of kan doen.

Hopelijk wordt Fallas de rest van de periode met rust gelaten, zodat iedereen gewoon kan genieten van het feest. Dit geldt zeker ook voor de Valencianen, die in deze moeilijke crisistijd best wel weer wat afleiding kunnen gebruiken. (Ook een beetje de reacties die je leest, dat ondanks dat het festival het nodige kost, ze met name willen genieten en de hele crisis situatie willen vergeten.)

Daar kan ik me alleen maar bij aansluiten. Als er in een grote mensenmassa paniek ontstaat dan zijn de gevolgen niet te overzien. Kijk maar naar een relatief onschuldig incident met de damschreeuwer. Paniek breekt uit en tientallen mensen raken gewond. Ongelooflijk dat dit feestje voor de Valencianen op deze manier wordt verstoord. Die gasten zijn er alleen maar op uit om zoveel mogelijk aandacht te krijgen en dat lukt ze natuurlijk prima op deze manier.

Waar de locale politie in het verleden redelijk "lief" was, en met name de guardia civil dit soort dingetjes kwam oplossen, laat de policia local hier even duidelijk zien dat ze echt absoluut tegen dit soort dingen opgewassen zijn.

Voor de duidelijkheid nog maar even het nieuwsbericht waar het filmpje over gaat:

In totaal werden 14 studenten, waaronder 4 minderjarigen, gearresteerd. Bij de schermutselingen raakte ook een vrouw lichtgewond aan haar been en hoofd. Daarnaast raakten ook 5 agenten lichtgewond.

De 14 arrestanten komen bij de 17 die vorige week al tijdens vergelijkbare protesten in de stad werden aangehouden.

Volgens de corpschef van de Valenciaanse Policia Nacional werd het optreden van zijn agenten gerechtvaardigd door het agressieve gedrag van de studenten.
Dit zei hij tijdens een persconferentie die werd gehouden nadat de rust in het centrum weer was teruggekeerd. Het politieoptreden werd bekritiseerd vanuit de regionale en lokale politiek.

Toen de politie een cordon opwierp dat onmiddellijk werd doorbroken door studenten die aan de zijkanten probeerden te vluchten, ontstonden de spanningen.
De studenten begonnen dingen te roepen als ‘dit zijn de helden van Spanje’ en ‘ze zijn zo moedig, dat ze kinderen slaan’.
Bezuinigingen
Ongeveer 300 studenten wilden aan het begin van de middag op vreedzame wijze door het centrum lopen vanaf de ingang van de middelbare school Lluis Vives. Al lopend werden leuzen geroepen als ‘boeven in de gevangenis en geld naar het onderwijs’. Ze protesteren tegen de bezuinigingen in het onderwijs.

Daar protesteren ze tenminste tegen de economische ellende. Hier doen we massaal of er geen economische problemen zijn. Het is maar hoe je het bekijkt natuurlijk.

Paar maanden geleden ook een aantal demonstranten bij de intocht van Sinterklaas roepen dat het racistisch was. Er zal altijd ergens wel wat zijn.

Nu zijn de economische problemen van Spanje (en met name de jeugdwerkeloosheid) ook van een heel ander kaliber dan in Nederland.

Ik vind het juist nogal een chaotisch optreden van de politie waarbij je ook ziet dat het bij willekeurig opjagen en rennen ook wel ophoud. Ook het feit dat de protesten al zo lang aanhouden zegt al dat je op deze manier de protesten niet zomaar verdwijnen.
Dat er geprotesteerd word vind ik van één kant ook wel begrijpelijk, maar om een stuk traditie en cultuur daarmee kapot te maken gaat nergens over. Fallas is voor de meeste Valencianen ook een hoogte punt die juist in dagen met (economische) tegenspoed verlichting brengt.

Ik zeg met een flinke politiemacht net voordat de mascleta begint die hippies de kooi in drijven.

Maar dan is het juist van de studenten heel fout om fallas uit te kiezen als podium voor de demonstraties.
Tijdens fallas word er d.m.v. de poppen al keihard kritiek geleverd op de politiek, bezuinigingen en de politiek.
Wat dat betreft hebben ze een medestander in de hele kwestie in de vorm van de fallas gemeenschap.

Maar i.p.v. het ludiek op te lossen (de studenten hadden ook zelf poppen kunnen maken met een boodschap, en deze "in het wild" kunnen planten) kiezen ze ervoor om tegen de gemeenschap te demonstreren, wat heel veel kwaad bloed zet.
Tenslotte verviervoudigd het aantal mensen wat tijdens fallas in valencia verblijft, met de nodige centjes die in de kas van valencia komen tot gevolg.

Al met al een heel ongelukkig gekozen actie, waarvan ik alleen maar kan hopen dat de groepen dit snel in zullen zien.

Die werkt ook alleen maar met zijn mond en vindt dan vooral dat hij noeste "arbeid" levert waar de gehele maatschappij beter van wordt.

volgens mijn weekendkrant is Spanje een soort tweede Griekenland aan het worden, torenhoge schuldenlast die niet meer te dragen is en dreigen draconische maatregelen.

Dat er uberhaupt nog vuurwerk is tijdens de fallas valt me nog mee maar als de bedrijven niet meer door de provincie betaald kunnen worden lijkt me dat toch een probleem te worden in de toekomst.
