In the medieval village of Taggia, Liguria, they have a centuries old tradition on the 9th of February to make bonfires in the street and set off home-made fireworks. They must hold on to the bamboo tube stuffed with gunpowder and set it off... If you can hold on to it, you'e the man! If it explodes in your hand; you're a loser... Last year 2 kids died, but they stick to their tradition.
This video might be shocking to watch.
People actually getting burned and losing fingers and hands, so DON'T try this at home!

Stick.. Stick to their tradition.. Leuke woordspeling maar niet echt gezond dit. Hoop dat ze er snel een net zo mooi alternatief voor verzinnen!

As usual also this year police confiscate 130 fulgari, 45 kg of gunpowder and 9 persons has been charged for illegal manufacture of explosives.

One man died 2 years ago during (illegal) preparation of gun powder not during shooting of fulgari and 2 friends survived to explosion after 1 year of hospital were sentenced to 6 months in prison.
