Markus Klatt

So, I just returned from Tarragona and I really have to say:

whoooow - the competition this year was simply wonderful! Although the weather was not that good in the evenings and therefore the show of Antonio Caballer drunken in smoke and the show of Lidu and Altura were somehow effected by smoke too (but not to much), the quality and size of this years International Fireworks Competition displays were simply great - all spectators have to deeply thank ALL companies taking part in this years competition. ALL companies showed really beautiful shows and made the competition once again to a perfect spectacle enjoying the public and the jury! THANKS A LOT.

Before I now give the officials result I have to excuse, that I did not publish photos and informations on time as I promised before. The reason is very simple: the orginazation of the competition, in person there are especially to mention Jordi and Ester (many, many thanks again on this way), took so good care of some jury members (my wife and me included), that there simply was no time between waking up in the morning and the displays in the evening to visit an internet cafe - we had some highly enjoyable cultural sight seeing tours to discover a little more of this Catalan region than just the fireworks of Tarragona. So there was much to less time for reporting on the comeptition. Sorry for that

Today I publish the official results of the jury before writing about all shows and give the promised photos. As maybe most of you know, each jury member (there were 17 members of the jury this year) has to vote for lots of categories at the end of every show.
Some examples for the catagories are: "Starting", "Conjunction with the environment", "Purity and intensity of colours", "Dimensions", "Sonority", "Script of the show" and "Final crescendo".
So, the members all vote (for their own and alone) with grades (points) from 0-10 (where 10 is best) immediatly after a fireworks display was shot. There is no possibility to change one's oppinion after voting for a show the next day. In the end of the competition, all points (votings) of all categories of all jury members are counted together for all shows and this result represents the official judging of the jury. Since all jury members have their own oppinion on how fireworks displays should be shot, since they all have their own experiences and preferences and they do not exchange their definite results till all shows were shot, the jury members do not know who is the winner till the very last evening when all points are counted together. This just for your information how the following results were "created":

1. Place (Ø 8,73 points)
TAMAYA KITAHARA ENKATEN CO., LTD. - Japan

2. Place (Ø 8,61 points)
A.P.E. DI PARENTE ROMUALDO SPETTACOLI PIROTECNI - Italy

3. Place (Ø 8,29 points)
PIROTÈCNIA ANTONI CABALLER S.A. - Spain (Valencia)

4. Place (Ø 7,82 points)
LIDU FIREWORKS CORPORATION LTD. - China

5. Place (Ø 7,47 points)
PIROTÈCNIA ZARAGOZANA, S.A. - Spain (Zaragoza)

6. Place (Ø 7,19 points)
PIROTÈCNIA D'ALTURA - Spain (Valencia)

As you can see the results for the companies are all very close - so in the end for my oppinion there is not a real single winner and not a real single last place. All shows had their own dynamic and rhythm, all had very good and more bad parts, all had different qualities here and there, but all were simply great fireworks displays! So congratulations to all companies and thank you all for your efforts to present these fine fireworks to the public!
