An object, which triggered a bomb scare in front of Parliament, turned out to be five fireworks, a senior police officer said. Pol Lt Gen Pramote Pathumwong, commander of Metropolitan Police Division 1, said bomb disposal officers used high-powered water gun to fire at the object before inspecting it.

Pramote said bomb disposal officers found that the object was only five firecrackers stuffed inside a paper package. A road sweeper suspected two shiny objects tied together with plastic bag at 1 pm. The finding prompted police to cordon off the Uthong Road immediately before bomb disposal squads were deployed to check the object.
