Set time limit for fireworks

All of a sudden fireworks at the Spikes' games are an issue, and it's good we could report it before College Township made a decision to restrict them.

They avoided fireworks at last week's meeting by delaying it to do "due diligence" on the issue. Mike Joseph reported the issue Sunday and readers are sharing their views online.

It's good Spikes' General Manager Rick Janac was there to ask for some time to reach a compromise.

They should aim for a compromise here, because fireworks are a part of minor league baseball and fans love them. Especially the young fans.

How about putting a time limit on them, saying they should not be set off after 10:45 p.m.? That would seem reasonable and everyone would know ahead of time what's going on.

I'm sorry, but I don't think decisions can be made based on a few residents' complaints, including one about a dog, before sitting and talking. And sitting and talking could result in a compromise over the time of fireworks.

That should happen in this case, for the fans and the ball club.
