Around the center of the square there is a series of holes covered with municipal traps. Some of them include the denomination of "Communications". Others, nothing. Both are the ones that open to falcate the base of the large poles that support the provisional enclosure.
The operators must have completed the work before February 26 , the date on which the first "mascletà" will be fired. First, the northern area (next to the Ágora) will be completed and the second part, the southern area that overlooks the La Equitativa building, will not be completed until it is completed, so as not to cut off the entire area that is used for transit and recreation.
Last year, the works began on February 1, when there were still doubts about the conditions in which the "mascletaes" were going to be held. In fact, the speed at which the works began was taken as a more or less subtle way of putting pressure so that they would not fall into the temptation of suspending them.
Now comes the great unknown, which will not be resolved even when the project is drafted in its entirety, nor when the contract is signed, nor when the remodeling works of the square begin. In any case, as the planned calendar materializes: will there be "mascletaes" in the square in the Fallas of 2024? . Because the machines will not start working until the next legislature and the forecast is 15 months of work.
The exercise of logic would say that the "mascletódromo" should be finished to be able to house them in March 2024, but it would be of little use to have the new pyrotechnic center if its surroundings are unfit for the public. Which makes it possible to foresee that they could be shots with access problems or that, as on so many other occasions in so many other events, a provisional alternative space must be found. Only a start of the works on March 20, 2024 -which is unlikely- would perhaps leave greater possibilities.
The Re-Natura project, it must be remembered, respects the shooting area and counts on the fact that the trees, being deciduous, will not impede the view of the show. And even in his graphic memory he included a figure with the municipal fault in the new square. The location of the monument will be the other big question.
It is not a project that can be accelerated as much as, for example, the Peris and Valero channeling works, which were carried out much faster than expected for the avenue to reopen before the September Fallas.
