A Lakewood home packed with fireworks caught fire, setting off an explosion that rocked the house off its foundation and broke windows three blocks away.
One man inside suffered minor burns in the fire this morning. He was treated at a hospital and released. Two other people inside the home at the time of the blast were not hurt.Fire crews were called to the house on Dunrobin Avenue just before 7 a.m. They had the fire out by 7:15.
"There were some large amounts of fireworks found at the location and scattered throughout the area due to the explosion," said Los Angeles County Fire Inspector Ed Osorio. "The explosion was severe enough that it moved the house off its foundation."
"We're getting reports of broken windows about three blocks away," he said. "The explosion was strong enough that a fire crew and station located a mile and a half away felt the explosion," he continued.
It wasn't immediately clear what caused the fire.
