RACINE, Wis. A Racine kindergartener who startled his teacher with a fireworks popper gets a trip to the principal's office and a four-day suspension.
But, the parents of five-year-old Quinn Lucier thinks the punishment is way over the top.

Jerstand-Agerholm Elementary School Principal Cecilia Holley-Young suspended the boy and called the police because the fireworks popper qualifies as an explosive device.

The five-year-old found the popper in his older brother's drawer and figured it was a toy he could bring to school.

Rachel Lucier says she doesn't want her kindergartner to have a school or police record because it could come back to haunt him later in life.

The school district's code says the suggested discipline for a minor or first incident involving use of a "pyrotechnics device" ranges from a detention up to a suspension.
