If any of you boys and girls out there are in England on the 23rd April 2005 I would like to invite you to a competition that I am organising. 5 Teams (A mixture of amateurs and professionals) from throughout the UK will fire a 5 min display set to music they have to do this using only fireworks that the public can buy (Catagory 3) and with a budget of 650 Euros (850 Dollars)

This is a special year in England as we celebrate the 400th Anniversary of the Gunpowder Plot of the 5th November, this is the main firework celebration as I am sure some of you will know.

In addition two professional companies (including Madbob's) will be firing a Catagory 4 display and there will be lots of other pyro demonstrations and some film special effects. The event is free; but because of the insurance problems it is i'm afraid strictly invite only. The event is in Essex (just right of London) if anyone is interested or just happens to be in England on this date send me a personal message and I will send you more details.

Daarnaast zullen twee professionele bedrijven (met inbegrip van Madbob) een Catagory 4 vertoning in brand steken en er zal veel andere pyro demonstraties en sommige film speciale gevolgen zijn. De gebeurtenis is vrij; maar wegens de verzekeringsproblemen het ik is ben bang strikt slechts uitnodigen. De gebeurtenis is in Essex (enkel net van Londen) als iedereen geinteresseerd is of enkel om in Engeland op deze datum gebeurt te zijn verzendt me een persoonlijk bericht en ik zal verzenden u meer details. Am i misunderstanding:
your competition (in april) has nothing to do with the gunpowder plot wich is celebrated the 5th of november, right? Otherwise it would be quite early :9

Anyway, great you can organise such competition, are you a representative of a fireworkscompany yourself??

I work for a Fireworks Display Company, which helps when organising these things.

The 400th Anniversary of the Nov 5th plot is just a good excuse, will be a very busy year for everyone involved in pyro.

The date in April is St Georges Day (the patron Saint of England) no one every celebrates this so I thought why not!!!

The 400th anniversary is mentioned on the trophy.

Well, since it is the 30th of April (Hail Beatrix :p ) i was wondering, how did the competition work out.

And are there any videos or pictures available of that day? Because i am very curious what you guys can do with consumer fireworks overthere :)

It all went very well thanks...lot of hard work but was worth it in the end...

I will see if I can get Madbob to post some links to films of the various consumer parts and the explosions we created at the end....enjoy!!!

Only, try to take more distance if you film (movie 1 and 2) some fireworkshows :)

I did not video the Movie 1 and 2. They were supplied by someone else ;) I did shoot the video's in Valencia :)

Great movies guys, when I see them I want to go back to Valencia right away.

It's is a nice concept you have choose there, with photo's and film.

Great Pro displays you have there in England.

The Pro displays were provided free by 'Flashpoint Fireworks' (Madbob) and 'Spyrotechnics' in order to help me with my evening, which was extremely kind of them...'Heritage Fireworks' fired a Salute finale and a Movie Special Effects company fired the hugh explosions on the field (using a suprising amount of self raising flour) and the wall of fire (my special request). As I said it was a great night, only one complaint, everyone at the front of the crowd lost the eyebrows....

Great, great movies guys!. i hope ( whish full thinking??? :+ ) we can arrange (in the near future)some sort of competition here in The Netherlands or in Belgium!

Wouldn't it just be great if we could organise something like this in the Netherlands? Although I'm affraid we would first have to replace our really pyro-paranoid government. Ah well ... the movies will do fine in the mean time. ;)

glad you liked the movies - we had a fantastic weekend and the quality of all of the display was great :)


perhaps we should look at a UK/Netherlands event ??? ;)
