Metrostaking aangekondigd in Valencia. Op donderdag 16 maart tussen 9 en 10.30 uur staat de boel stil, op zaterdag 18 maart tussen 17.50 en 19.20 uur.
The Metrovalencia public transport service for these Fallas 2023 comes up against the call for a strike by workers of the Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV). Thus, the Independent Railway Union (SIF) has announced stoppages in the service during this month of March.
Specifically, it will be on March 16, 18, 22, 28 and 30 when these days of strike will take place. Even so, the cuts in the service will not be throughout the day nor, in the case of March 16 and 18, will they affect the most prominent days of the Fallas, since, as explained to Europa Press by the union's general secretary, César Sánchez Salvador, "it's a wake-up call, but we don't want to punish anyone."
Specifically, on Thursday, March 16, the stoppages in the metro and tram service will be between 9 and 10:30 a.m.; while on Saturday, March 18, they have been convened between 5:50 p.m. and 7:20 p.m. On the other hand, on March 22, they will be between 1:00 p.m. and 3:40 p.m. On March 28 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. and on March 30 from 7:20 p.m. to 9 p.m.
One of the reasons for this protest is the lack of security that has caused an increase in attacks on convoy drivers. In addition, from the union organization they assure that the public administration has implemented measures (such as free public transport for those under 30 years of age or the discount of the Metrovalencia service), which have increased the number of users, but not At the same time, the number of Metrovalencia personnel has been increased.
In this sense, from the union they demand more personnel in the stations and on board the subways and trams to attend to the people who travel in them. And they also demand that more security workers be incorporated.
