The Danish market and rules

I'm starting this topic to discus and chat about the Danish fireworks market, after our newest member @Kjartan joined us and talked to us about it in the Dutch language topic about the Neon Ghost of Bonfireworks:
Neon Ghost

I hope @Kjartan can tell us all the ins and outs about the Danish market :)

---------------------

Hey, just saw you linking to my video!
Yes, we just got it in Denmark this year but only 1 og 2 small importers had it.
It was okay, but i was a little disappointed from what I had expected.
This one is pretty similar but half the price:
From PGE (Pyro Group Europe):

Sorry for the English, i don't speak dutch 😅
Hi!
No problem, most of us speak English.
Nice to see you here, and a big welcome :) always good to have some insider info of the Danish market.
I think no one here has ever been in Denmark with the NYE.

So if I am getting it, there were only two importers that imported the fireworks of Bonfireworks? Did they also had any other of the Dutch brands?
We sadly had a sales ban this year (that did not stop us 💪) so I am pretty interested where the Dutch products did go to.
Will check out the other importers you mentioned.
What are the "to go to" brands in Denmark?

Well there was one who sold to a few retailers and then another one who just imported a little them selves.
Well there was the Neon Ghost and Great Strobe.
Then there was some Rubro/Geisha/Vulcan (as i understand it it's from the same company?) A few small compounds from Vulcan and then there was these 2 double compounds:

A pretty large company (https://www.johansensfireworks.com/) sells china red fireworks just in another label.

I also had these 3 from Rubro, but they weren't on the market (just got them cause I know the importer 😝)

Oh and these were also a few places:

Other than that there are a variety of brands (most owned by the same 2 companies)
What I prefer is of course the dutch 😁, Jorge, Klasek, Funke, Tropic, PGE, Next Level Fireworks, AFAC and then some products from "fyrværkerieksperten" which is the largest company that have 10-20 different brands mostly selling to the "normal" consumers.

Heard about you ban - that sucks. S new law recently got through in DK making F3 illegal for consumers from 2025, so the fireworks business in Denmark has started to seek new options around the world. I also therefore think that we are going to be seeing more and more Dutch (as well as German, Polish etc.) brands in Denmark.

Thanks for having me here, very nice community you have here! We need something like that in Denmark 😁

This became a long and complicated post, hope it makes sense

Well this is kind of fun.
Johansens is based or has a spokesman in the Netherlands?
Yes, the owner is Danish and lives in The Netherlands with his family.
I think they moved there a few years ago when his business starting going well.

They have been some of the best and most liked by the pyro freaks in DK (and also starting to get out to the more public consumers over the few last year's)

Sadly it is not going as well for them and the quality of the products arent as good as earlier, partly because the owner might have lost interest and has started importing other things such as gloves.
They especially had a very rough year this year where around 70% of their fireworks first arrived december 30th.

I think they are going to be less relevant in the danish market as more and more companies are starting to import more from Europe instead of directly from china (mainly because of the high shipping prices)

The J-Fireworks brand is mainly built upon china red, where the polar series is Wolff Fireworks

Oh wow! That's some nightmare material there! 😱
Were they able to ship at least some out in time or did they just give up? ^^

I personally think that it would be a good idea for them to join forces with some more EU/Dutch brands that we see a lot of importers doing over here.
But if they already have connections with China Red/Wollf, I would go for a stronger Co-Op there, maybe with some rebranding, maybe just use their collections.

For the fireworks them selves it should'nt make a big difference. EU regualtions are EU wide so.

What is going on with the F3 like you said?
You guy's still had them? 75 gram rockets on the site of Johansens. But what types did you had?

Yea they got it out in time but lost quite a lot of the normal sale.

I think that it will happen by it self with the EU-Regulations.

Yeah we have F3 (not in compounds though)
The main difference is going to be cakes aren't allowed to be 1.000 NEC but now only 500 NEC. That is probably not going to make a big difference as compounds are allowed up to 2.000 gram.
Fountains are also going to be reduced from 750 gram to 500.

The Rockets are still going to be 75 gram, although some companies have said they are trying to get away from rockets
