Aan het strand zitten een aantal tentjes, die naast het strand staan.
Daar kun je goed eten, vooral de paella's zijn echt goed te eten.
We hebben op de een na laaste dag daar, s'middags gegeten.
Dat was echt aan te raden.

Ik haal even wat post weg uit mijn thread over de 100broodjes winkel. Want daar gaat het nu helemaal off topic. Hier kunnen jullie Restaurants vermelden waar je ervaring mee hebt. Dus aub niet internet afstruinen en hier een lijst met 100restaurants neerzetten maar echt eigen ervaringen.

Wij gaan altijd 1 dag op het strand eten. Dit gebeurt dan op 15 Maart als de rest van de mannen zich bij ons voegd. 1 van deze boys is dan jarig en als smoes moeten we dan lekker eten. Onze contact persoon die besteld dan voor ons en als we aankomen staan de tapas al klaar voor de mannen en daarna uiteraard een lekker rijst gerecht. We zijn dan ongeveer 20 a 25 euro per persoon kwijt en dan lopen met een buik vol vreten, bier en sangria weer naar buiten om daarna weer 45 minuten in de bus plaats te nemen.

Verleden jaar hebben we de 18e nog een plaatsje weten te bemachtigen in een zeer goed restaurant op het pleintje waar die bloemencorso's voorbijlopen vlak voor Plaza de Magdalena. Moesten wel 1 uur wachten maar het smaakte goed. Er zitten daar overigens meerdere restaurants op een rijtje.

De 19e hebben in zo'n eettentje aan het strand gegeten, ook hier was het verschrikkelijk druk en hebbben we langer dan een uur moeten wachten tot er plek was (strand was verlaten maar alle restaurants zaten vol!). Hier ook heerlijk Paella en Tapas gegeten voor een klein prijsje, en een lekkere fles Vino..

Het is inderdaad zeer druk op deze dagen. Vergeet niet dat er zo een anderhalf miljoen mensen in de stad aanwezig zijn die waarschijnlijk allemaal honger hebben. Wij hebben zelf ook 2 jaar lopen zoeken naar wat te eten en we moesten het toen doen met wat spul uit een pizzeria wat we op een stoepje hebben zitten eten.

Waarschijnlijk kan je die 2 dagen ook niks reserveren want ze zitten dan toch wel vol en des te makkelijker het voor hun is.

i recommend to go to a place not so centrical or somewhere for fast food.

I normally take my own food from home. One year we went to the Pans&Company in the center, they only offered 3 different sandwiches in order to serve faster, the place was packed.
After the lunch, finding a decent place for a coffe is also an adventure.

Valencia is the home of paellas, but you may also find places serving you pre-cooked paellas, and specialized places. A paella for several people normally has to be ordered in advance.

I normally go to Pinedo beach restaurants for paellas, several good places there, but it's very far from the center, there is a bus, but i think it's not an option for you. I always go by car. The same happens with El Saler restaurants,very good for paellas and local dishes such as fideua or other kind of rices, but again very far from the city, despite it still belongs to the city of valencia. You definetly need a car to get there.
I have heard that restaurants in Malvarrossa beach are also good for paellas, some of them at least. But i don't know which are. The good thing is that you can get to Malvarrossa by bus and tram.

Restaurants specialized in paellas normally do a big paella for serving dishes of paella when you haven't ordered one in advance.

But best paella i eat in valencia is at my aunt's home (win)

I can post some info on normal restaurants chains and fast food restaurants that can be found in valencia and my experience in some of them, if somebody is interesed. I have posted a bit of info in the 100montaditos thread.

Do you perhaps have some names or adresses of the restaurants further away. We have the luxury to have some cars in Valencia so we will go eat there because the food you can get in Valencia (within a time of 3 hours ;-)
)

Ik heb de fotos opgezocht en geupload.
Dit restaurant vinden wij zelf altijd goed eten serveren.
Het is dan wel 45 minuten met de bus maar dat is echt de moeite waard.

Ook is er een goede tapa bar te vinden in Calle Sueca.
Deze heet Cervezeria Kristal. Hier kan je diverse tapas eten voor niet al teveel geld. Hij zit precies op de kruising waar de lichtjes beginnen op calle sueca en nog belangrijker , Vuurwerk winkel El Fallero zit er aan de overkant.

I have found it, la patacona is the quarter, the street is mare nostrum avenue at Alboraya,

The places i'm talking about are more or less the same distance but instead to the north of valencia, located to the south.

I'll post the places i have been. I normally go to the same place, i have been two times at El saler but i don't remember the name of the places, many years ago. Other of my favourite places for paellas was demolished, yes demolished for the ampliation of the harbour.

Probably the place/or places i'll say for paellas and i have been in won't be better that La Ferradura.

i have remember the name of the place at pinedo i use to go. Paellas are normally good or very good

it's located at pinedo beach. Pinedo is a quarter of Valencia, belongs to valencia city despite seems to be outside of the city. It's near the harbour.

The beach is nice for wwalking but i don't like it for swimming, in summer i use to go to other beaches

In this pic you can see to the north La Patacona and to the south Pinedo, the green area is part of the natural park of Albufera a big lagoon surrounded by rice fields and pine tree areas.

how to get there
need to get the highway to El Saler,"pista" as valencian says for "autopista"
this "pista" is by the side of city of arts and science marked in the picture below.
1 is my house in valencia, is close to this exit of valencia so it is normal that i usually go to El Saler or Pinedo

NOte:see new post nelow for an update on this:
after passing over the new river bed there is an exit marked as "pinedo", well ou can take this exit but i recommend following in the highway to the next exit, why?
1 the place is in fact in the middle of both exists
2 the first exit to pinedo is terrible, you have to take the v30 highway for 100 mts cars coming fast and it's like an "stop" for you, i don't like it.

so the red lines is my recommendation, the blue lines lead to the same place anyway

the exit i recommend to take is the following to the first of pinedo. i don't know if its marked as pinedo or beaches or something like that

it leads to a roundabout, follow the red lines i have marked

it will take you to the first row of restaurants.

I have marked 1: first row of restaurants, El Velero is there
2: second row of restaurants very similar all of them
3:a techno disco very famous in valencia, it was called "spook" now i don't know
4:another big disco, i can't remember the name
i have gone both places of restaurants and both discos
Avoid these two discos while in fallas, there are too many people trying to get in and they are very very expensive.


Finally a closer look to the restaurants area, see there is a parking, there is normally an old man asking for an euro and helping people to park and theorically takeing care of the cars

hello freaks, as i promised i'm going to give some more info about restaurants

Last weekend of febreuary i went to valencia and ate at El Velero restaurant, i could have tried another one but i finally went to the same place, and took a couple of pictures and realize that i must change the 'how to get there pics'
so i edit the previous post and remove some old info

As there are some works in the are improving the access for the americas cup, there is a new access to pinedo, but seems to be not finished yet and seems to makes a detour to get to pinedo since the old access that i didn't like dosen't exists any more.

I still recommend access option 2, also marked in the highway as pinedo. Once out of the highway just follow the beach and restaurants signs.

How to get to El Velero, (thy should invite me for the free advertising)

and i still recommend the second option as the new access is a bit confusing.

if you follow the blue route, just go ahead by the main street of Pinedo, may you'll see some other restaurants there, even one in an old typical house of the area (barraca), but haven't been in none of them.
For the red route, take the exit marked as 'Pinedo', whcih is the next exit to the one of the blue route.

Once in Pinedo follow the signs of beach and restaurants

The place looks like this

the beach of Pinedo is not too big, quite small compared with MAlvarrosa, but much quiet than the other

This time we ate two side-dishes (which in valencia are not very splendid, unlike other parts of spain)
and two dishes of paella.

Minimum paella is for 3 people.


the bill

for the day 19 is everything already booked inside (outside they don't book until the same day). They open only for lunch.

that's all about this place. For sure there are better places for Paella, but i need to investigate a bit more.

Some other restaurants

This is recommended by my parents, unfortunately they don't serve paellas but other kind of typical valencian food, so if there isn't paella it's not of my interest

Another place full of restaurants is EL Palmar, tiny village that is almost in the middle of Albufera, Following the highway to El saler it becomse a road and there is adetour to El Palmar. It's the place for a typical paella and for a visit to Albufera and feed the hordes of mosquitos :weird:
I have one card of restaurants from El Palmar by my parents didn't remember if they went to this one or not, they simply had many many cards and for sure they haven't been in many of them
Anyway rests in this places don't look bad, i saw some pics searching in internet and they are specialized in paellas, definetly i have to try them one of these days

Nog een aanrader: Restaurant Pepica op neptune (malvarossa beach). Je kunt er aan de kant van de stad naar binnen maar ook aan d ekant van het strand. Het restaurant is niet gezellig ingericht en is gigantisch groot. Het is ene open keuken waar alle verse spullen lichen. Alles word ter plekke bereid en geslacht etc. De muren hangen vol met een indrukwekkend(ook aantal) repetoire van beroemde mensen die er gegeten hebben en met de gastheren en dame op de foto zijn gegaan. De bediening is top en weet hoe het hoort.

De prijzen zijn ook goed te noemen zeker als je kijkt naar de kwaliteit en de locatie: 2 salades valencia, pan de ajillo (mene ik), pannetje paella de valencia en drinken voor 45 euro terwijl op andere plekken alleen de paella al 15 euro pp kosten!
