A civil servant from Sungai Udang is believed to be involved in one of the gangs. State police chief, SAC1 Ayub Yaakob said the first raid was carried out at Taman Terendak Permai, Sungai Udang, last Saturday.

Fireworks worth RM15,000 were seized during the raid. "We have identified a civil servant who is believed to be involved with the gang and we will be arresting him soon," said Ayub. Police had also seized 33 types of fireworks worth RM7,000 in Padang Temu yesterday.

A 37-year-old grocery shop owner was arrested in the raid.
Ayub said RM3,000 worth of contraband cigarettes were also seized in the same operation. The sale and distribution of fireworks is an offence under Section 8 of the Explosive Materials Act 1957 which carries a jail term of up to seven years and fine up to RM10,000.
