A Gary woman admitted she placed her daughter in a dangerous situation a year ago when the child lost three fingers after lighting fireworks on the kitchen stove.

Tameeka D. Pharms, 27, of the 4400 block of Jackson Street, pleaded guilty Thursday in the Jan. 26, 2006, incident.

Pharms admitted she left fireworks in the kitchen drawer and her daughter, then 2, lit the fireworks on the stove.

The fireworks exploded, severing three fingers from the girl's right hand.

Pharms had been charged with neglect of a dependent, which carries a six- to 20-year sentence. She also was charged with misdemeanor false informing for lying to police about how the incident occurred. In exchange for her guilty plea, the neglect and the false informing charges will be dismissed.

Pharms sentencing hearing is Feb. 22.

Pharms' co-defendant, Tyrone J. Jackson, 26, of Gary, pleaded guilty in July to false informing.

Jackson was given nine-month probation, but his probation officer filed a petition to revoke his probation on Jan. 2. A hearing is scheduled for April 10.
