(News from fireworkstown.com) The recent 59th Annual APA (American Pyrotechnics Association) convention was one held at the Hyatt in Dal-las (Texas, United States) from Oct. 2 to 6. The meetings were on time and well to the point. The subject matter was important to the industry and was well handled.

The Tuesday night opening cocktail party was held on one of floors near the top of the 600-foot Reunion Tower. The view was incomparable and the last rays of the sunset viewed through the evening haze were brilliant oranges and reds.

Wednesday morning was the Welcome Breakfast, and got down to the business of the convention. It opened with APA President Steve Franz, of Western Enterprises in Oklahoma, the well dressed western sheriff, deputiz-ing the APA Board Members, and some good natured comments from Chester Davis defending Texas. The arch-rival football game between Texas and Oklahoma was to be played Saturday the 6th, and that added to the atmosphere. Opening remarks were made by Franz, APA Executive Director Julie Heckman, Chester Davis, and Convention Chairman Mike Collar. The keynote address was delivered by Texas State Senator Robert Ni-chols. The Milton Dropo Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Michael Ingram.
