Havre (Montana -US) - HAVRE - An early morning fire destroyed a fireworks booth in Havre, jeopardizing funding for the city's annual fireworks display.
The booth, manned by the Jaycees, uses proceeds from fireworks sales to pay for the city's Independence Day display. The fire was reported at about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday. Jason Murri, who oversees the Jaycees fireworks display, says there was a lot of smoke and he could hear fireworks going off inside the trailer. When the roof caved in and holes burned through the walls, Murri says he could see the fireworks going off.
Havre Fire Chief Dave Sheppard says they are still investigating the cause of the fire. No one was injured.
The Jaycees are seeking donations to pay for the $5,000 display as they work to get a new fireworks booth and inventory.
