This morning I received a phone call that shocked me quite a bit. A friend of mine told me about an explosion at the factory of B.Bruscella (Modugno, Bari). The explosion probably occurred last Friday (October, 12th).
As far as I know the explosion was not very big and was constrained to one small building. Unfortunately, a young man (20) was working there and got injured. He is said to have second degree burns on 70% of his body and has to stay in hospital for at least one month.
The cause of the explosion is being investigated at the moment. According to a first reconstruction of the accident the worker was preparing a colour mixture when it happened (possibly due to an unexpected chemical reaction). The past few days it rained, which could have changed the stability of some of the chemicals that were being used to make the colour mixture.
