PADANG BESAR: A retired enforcement officer was detained yesterday at the border check-point here for allegedly smuggling firecrackers from Thailand.
The 58-year-old woman was driving across the checkpoint, with three passengers, when a Perlis Anti-Smuggling Unit officer stopped the vehicle at 11.30am.
Unit commander Deputy Superintendent Rooslan Radzi said they found the firecrackers, worth about RM2,800, in the boot of the car.
