(CBS 3) PHILADELPHIA Mayor Street was on hand at City Hall Tuesday to announce fireworks will ring in 2007 at Penn's Landing, continuing a Philadelphia tradition.

With a shower of confetti and a pre-New Year's toast, the Mayor confirmed the celebration sponsored by Planet Hollywood’s Riverwalk Casino.

A lack of funding threatened the cancellation of the fireworks for the first time in 16 years.

“A city and a new year just wouldn’t come in right if you didn’t have fireworks. Most of us who have children and grandchildren recognize the need to create the very spectacular part of bringing in the New Year, Mayor Street said.

This year there will also be a New Year's Eve party on the ice at the RiverRink
