Mini rockets with gold tail to crackling microstars

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, when I was on a skiing holiday with my parents in Austria, I always bought the baby rockets there. Back then in a bundle of 50 for maybe the equivalent of 1€. I always took some bundles with me, since the rockets only rose quietly with gold tail and spat out a few microstars at the end. So you could have a lot of fun with these rockets all year round without annoying anyone by the volume.
Many years later, when my supply was long gone, I got 2 whole boxes from current production. The disappointment was great when maybe every third rocket flew a few meters at all, and all were completely without the small final effect. Yes, not only the Chinese firecrackers have gotten worse..
Accordingly, I had wanted to make good baby rockets again for a long time, which finally worked now after the first attempt in 2018.
I was surprised when I first saw that these rockets are still made entirely by hand. A small tool with a long, needle-shaped tip is used to poke a hole in each rocket filled with powder, creating the core. A small fuse is then inserted into this core by hand, and the rockets are individually glueded with a label to the stick. Of course, all of this is now much more expensive than it used to be, and it's incredibly difficult to find someone willing to do this work carefully.
Therefore, these rockets are not comparable to the small plastic whistle rockets (Whistling Moontraveler), which are now mechanically pressed in bundles and are much faster/cheaper to produce.
But I think we finally managed to do well, and 9 out of 10 rockets fly very reliably and powerfully as in the old days.
However, the first version here is not a completely silent version, it is a version with golden tail and some crackling microstars. The effect is quite impressive considering the size, with a real small golden tail and some crackling as final, and they are a lot of fun to play with. I better not go into details, otherwise we will be considered a bad role model ;)
Other variants - also completely silent - will hopefully follow, if the factory is not too busy with orders for the domestic Chinese market.
