[2008] Falla Municipal

On April 12th the winning design and artists for the Falla Municipal of 2008 was elected.

The Falla Mayor Municipal will be made by the artists José Latorre and Gabriel Sanz. The name of the Falla will be "Desitges el que desitges, et quedaràs a Mitges". Which roughly translates to "Wish what you wish and you will stay in Mitges." It is about realising impossible wishes, which are pictured in smaller scenes around the Falla. Hence Aladdin and his genie play a central role in this Falla. The cost of this Falla is 220.000 euro and will be 20 metres high with 16 scenes and 31 figurines.

Wishing that Las Fallas lasts an entire year...................................Wishing to be young (again).

The Falla Infantil Municipal will be made by the artists José Luis Ceballos and Francisco Sanabria. The name of the Falla will be "Una ciutat en plena Festa". Which roughly translates to "A city which is entirely celebrating". The Falla gives tribute to all festivals and events. The cost of this Falla is 27.300 euro and will contain 4 central figurines which correspond to four events: Holy Mary in spring, the Feria de Julio in summer, the moorish King in autumn (October 9th) and the day of Sant Antoni del Porquet in winter.

Yep, dat klopt.

Tekeningen bevredigen je Fallas-verlangens weer tijdelijk of niet.
Langzaam maar zeker begint voor ons ook te gelden dat we zouden willen dat Fallas het hele jaar duurt.

Correct title for falla: mitges=in the middle, not a real place

"Wish what you wish and you will stay in Mitges"
two possible translations, hard to find a good translation.
anything you whish you will get half of it.
whatever you wish you'll stay in the middle.

the design of this falla looks good. :smile1:

wishing fallas to last all the year, and the faller persued by the residents

Hi Activi,

I was already hoping you would give some extra information on the translation. I got confused, because Mitges was written with a capital 'M'. My original translation didn't make sense to me, because I don't know of any place like that and couldn't find any info on it either.

PS: Thanks as well for translating the texts on the signs in the drawing "Wishing Fallas to last all year". I didn't even think of that.

The design is for me the best of the last 4 years.
It will be a very detailed falla wich i missed the years before.
