[2007] La Crida

Crida (pregon in spanish) is the opening speech for fallas

Sunday 25 of february is the day of several activities and the crida.

Many acts scheduled for that day, being the most interesting the following:

7:30 macrodespertà in centrical streets done for about 1.200 falleros which are already accredited.


14:00 , mascletà by Pirotecnia Valenciana Llanera de Ranes y Gori from Mislata.


19.45 , spectacle by "Mirada Creativa" at Serranos towers. Once finished, around 20hours, the speech of Fallera Mayor de Valencia, Marta Reglero Mangada, accompanied by the authorities of the city and the court of honor, and doing the opening speech for fallas 2007.
After that, fireworks by the same pyro company of the mascleta.

And i'll be there for the first time, never have seen crida before.

My schedule for this weekend in valencia:
saturday morning: see museum of fallas artist, which i haven't seen yet :embarrest:
saturday afternoon: go to the ninot exposition
sunday morning: see mascleta
sunday afternoon: see the crida

plus:eat some paella, drink some water of valencia :nuts:

and: take pictures of everything, no video since i have to borrow a camera from my sister and i'm reserving this for fallas.

crida 07

the day of the crida started with the great despertá, despite my home is near CAC (city of arts and science) and the desperta was in the center, they fired a mini mascleta when the desperta finished, and that awake me.

I went for the mascleta at 14h, (sorry no video cam) a bit dissapointing, it was only aereal effects, and wan't much acclaimed by the people attending.

In the afternoon went to the ninot expo and after that i went to the crida act.
I didn't expect too much of this act, since it is just an opening speech, i went just because i was near there and had nothing better to do.

And it was like i thought, a short spectacle of lights and sound in the tower of serranos.

then appeared the fallera mayor and the major of the city
they both gave an speech in valencian, saying how important fallas are , how much they were willing for the fallas to satart and that it's the best in the world, (valencian are very modest as you can see)

they declared officially the start of fallas

major of valencia gave the keys of the city to the fallera mayor

they finally sang the himn of valencia (complete)

and listen the himn of spain (a brief excerpt) (which has no lyrics)

after that a short but intense fireworks show, that i liked a lot.:smile1:
